Áine Gannon

Áine is a Senior Speech and Language Therapist and owner of SpeakAbout. She graduated from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, in 2013 with Bsc (Hons) degree in Speech and Language Therapy.

After graduating, she spent 8 years working in Singapore and London. During this time, she gained clinic experience in private clinics, a tertiary hospital for people with mental health difficulties, and a secondary school for students with mild to moderate learning difficulties.

She achieved her dysphagia competencies working in a hospital setting and has experience in running groups and individual sessions via tele-therapy.

She is a registered member of CORU, IASLT & Autism SIG (Special Interest Group) and Adult ID SIG

Julia O’ Shea

Julia O’Shea graduated from University of Limerick in 2022, with a MSc in Speech and Language Therapy (Professional Qualification). Throughout this course, she gained a variety of clinical experience, including working with children in primary care and developmental disability, as well as adults with communication and swallowing difficulties as a result of neurodegenerative diseases and stroke.

As part of this clinical experience, she has worked with clients with speech, language and communication needs including language disorder associated with Downs Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder, phonological disorder, articulation disorder and aphasia. She has also worked with clients with conditions including Parkinson’s Disease, Motor Neuron Disease, Dementia, Friedreich’s Ataxia, Progressive Nuclear Palsy, Posterior Cortical Atrophy, Primary progressive aphasia, and stroke. She acquired her dysphagia competencies in a community medical centre.

Julia is registered with CORU and is a member of The Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT).

Some trainings Julia has completed:

  • Lámh Module One, which is a course in the manual or key word signing system in Ireland that can support communication with children and adults with intellectual disabilities and communication needs.

  • Differential diagnosis of severe speech disorders in children

  • For her thesis, she was a co-researcher in a study on the uptake of new recommendations for diagnostic criteria and terminology for Developmental Language Disorder into policy and practice.

Leanne Cullen

Leanne graduated from University College Cork in 2021 with a BSc (Hons) in Speech and Language Therapy.

 

After graduating she worked as Speech and Language Therapist in both a public and private setting. She gained a variety of clinical experience, including working with children in primary care and disability as well as adults with communication and swallowing difficulties.

 

Leanne has a particular interest in working with children with speech difficulties as well as children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is passionate about supporting children and their families to achieve their communication goals. She strives to create a fun and safe environment and believes that the best way to learn is through play and fun.

 

Athina Tsouros

Athina is the Administrator for SpeakAbout.

Having graduated with an M.Sc in 1987, Athina went on to work as an Embryologist for over 12 years in Fertility clinics in London and Dublin. She then went on to train and work as a psychotherapist. She worked in private practice for 10 years and also for a period of time with the children's charities Barnardos and CARI.

Athina then worked as a clinical administrator in Blackrock Hospice for a year before going to a private practice as office manager. 

Athina then joined SpeakAbout in early 2023.

Leanne is a registered member of CORU, IASLT and Autism SIG.

She has completed training in “Lamh Module 1” and “Gestalt Language Processing”.
